Hello Gopher Fans!
This past weekend against Indiana University and Purdue University was a tough one for the Gophers. We lost to both teams, 6-1, even though some of the matches were pretty close, to move to 3-6 in the Big Ten. Although we lost both matches, we now have a better understanding of what we need to work on to get better as a team. We are trying to get our doubles stronger so we can hopefully begin singles with a 1-0 advantage.
On Saturday, we fell to No. 34 Indiana. We all fought as hard as we could and did our best, but just didn’t come out on top this time. Our one win came from Jessika Mozia who pulled out the victory in a third-set tiebreaker by a score of 10-7! It was a great win and we were all very proud of her.
On Sunday, we lost against No. 27 Purdue. Our lone win came from Natallia Pintusava (great job!). The Boilermakers were very aggressive with their play and always kept pressure on opponents, which is what a lot of us are trying to improve upon right now. As always, we played our hardest and did the best we could.
This weekend we are very excited to play against Nebraska on Friday, which is also our Senior Day, and then travel to Iowa and play on Sunday. They will be our last two matches before we start the Big Ten Tournament next weekend.
Come out and support your Gophers against Nebraska at 2 p.m. on Friday!
