The Minnesota women's tennis team completed its regular-season road schedule with a 6-1 loss at No. 64 Ohio State on Sunday afternoon. The Gophers slip to 5-15 overall (1-7 in the Big Ten), while the Buckeyes move to 13-9 overall (6-2 in the Big Ten).

Ohio State won all three doubles matches to stake a 1-0 lead in the match. Doron Muravnik and Magdalena Wiecha fell 8-1 at third doubles to Fidan Manashirova and Gabby Steele, while Alessandra Ferrazzi and Natallia Pintusava lost 8-6 at No. 1 doubles by Cami Hubbs and Kelsey Haviland.

Mariana Spilca and partner Alexa Palen also lost 8-6 at the second position to Paloma Escobedo and Kara Cecil.

The Gophers tied the overall match at 1-1 when Muravnik made quick work of Noelle Malley 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles. It was the second straight win for Muravnik, who has played third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles this year.

Minnesota was unable to gain any momentum from Muravnik's victory as Ohio State won the five remaining singles matches to secure the overall match.

Pintusava was defeated 6-4, 7-6 (1) at No. 1 singles by Haviland, while Palen dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Steele at second singles. Cecil handed Ferrazzi a 6-2, 6-3 loss at No. 3 and Wiecha fell 7-6 (3), 6-1 at No. 4 to Manashirova. Wiecha has played at least one match every position this year except for sixth singles. Hubbs dispatched Umanets 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.

Minnesota closes out its regular-season schedule next weekend with home matches against Illinois on Friday and Iowa on Sunday.
