The Gophers wrap up the Big Ten regular season with a pair of matches on the road. Minnesota travels to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers on Friday at 3 p.m. On Saturday, the Gophers head to Iowa to play the Hawkeyes beginning at 1 p.m.
About The Opponents
Wisconsin has lost its past three matches to conference foes Indiana, Illinois and Northwestern. The Badgers were ranked in the national polls earlier this season but have since dropped out. In Big Ten play, they hold a 2-6 record. Last year, the Gophers swept the Badgers 7-0 in Minnesota.
Iowa is coming off two wins this past weekend, defeating Michigan State and Michigan. The Hawkeyes are 10-8 overall and 4-4 in the Big Ten. The Gophers hold a commanding lead over Iowa with a 30-12 all-time record.
The National Ranking
The Golden Gophers are currently No. 66 in the latest national ranking, released April 11. Minnesota is one of seven Big Ten Conference teams listed among the nation's top 75 teams. Northwestern leads the way at No. 10, followed by Ohio State at No. 27 and Illinois at No. 29. Rounding out the conference teams: Iowa (33), Indiana (44), Penn State (58), Minnesota (66).
The Big Ten Championships begin on April 26 and run through the 29th at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
