Minnesota's winning streak ties the team's longest in the NCAA era first set in 1997, when the Golden Gophers won their first nine matches to start the season.
Minnesota started the match by winning two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. At No. 2 doubles, senior Kim Simonsen and freshman Amy Thomas defeated Katie Dougherty and Linde Mues, 8-1, while freshman Michaela Havelkova and sophomore Jennifer Howard defeated Dena Baritot and Shana McElroy at No. 3, 9-8.
Senior Nora Sauska defeated April Gabler at the No. 1 singles position, 6-2, 6-4. Havelkova defeated Baritot, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 5. The Golden Gophers clinched the victory with a win at No. 2 singles, where freshman Sandra Olsen defeated Vanessa Rauh, 6-3, 6-4.
Simonsen (No. 3 singles) and Thomas (No. 4 singles) each earned victories in three sets. Minnesota won its final point with junior Tammy Wang's 11th straight singles victory, a 6-4, 7-5 win over Dougherty at the No. 6 position.
The Gophers host Iowa in the team's final home match of the season on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. If outdoors, the match will be played at the College of St. Catherine.
