Michigan took all six singles matches in straight sets and won a pair of tight doubles matches to take a 7-0 women’s tennis victory over Minnesota on Sunday at the Baseline Tennis Center.

The 29th-ranked Wolverines improved to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten with their eighth straight win, while Minnesota, ranked 51st nationally, is now 11-6 overall and 1-3 in the league.

The Gophers lost the doubles point after dropping tight matches at the top two spots. Lindsay Risebrough and Karina Chiarelli suffered a 9-7 loss to 46th-ranked Chisako Sugiyama and Tania Mahtani at No. 1, while Alessandra Ferrazzi and Tijana Koprivica lost a tiebreaker by a 7-3 score at No. 2.

Chiarelli had the Gophers’ top singles performance, rallying from a 6-0 loss in the opening set to drop the second set 10-8 in a tiebreaker. Ferrazzi battled 66th-ranked Sugiyama to a 6-2, 6-4 setback at No. 1.

The Gophers play again Saturday at Michigan State at 11 a.m.
