number-oneThe Golden Gopher women's tennis team captured their sixth consecutive victory in defeating South Florida, 5-2, in Tampa on Friday. Minnesota improved to 10-3 on the season.

Minnesota's number-one doubles team of Michaela Havelkova and Valerie Vladea (11-2) lost just its second match of the season, falling to Genevieve Houle and Natalie Schwartz by a 8-3. The Gophers battled back with wins at number-two and three doubles to capture the doubles point.

The Gophers won four singles match to clinch the victory. Vladea, the Gophers' number-one singles player, defeated Jennifer Sinclair, 6-2, 6-4. The tightest match came at the number-three spot where Havelkova fought back from a one-set deficit to win, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. At number-six singles, Minnesota's Tammy Wang improved her record to 10-2 on the season with 6-2, 6-2 victory.
