sThe University of Minnesota Women's Tennis Team continued its spring trip with a 5-2 win over Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Ala., on Tuesday afternoon. The Golden Gophers improve to 9-3 on the season.

Minnesota earned the doubles point as Valerie Vladea and Amy Thomas defeated Michelle Dushner and Sally Pearson at No. 1, 8-3. Angela Buergis and Nischela Reddy shut out Heather Miller and Elisa Benhaim at No. 2 doubles, 8-0.

In singles, Vladea cruised at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Benhaim. Thomas claimed the win at No. 3 as Zeynep Gurkaynak defaulted due to injury. Reddy and Brandi Watts posted singles wins at No. 4 and 5 singles, respectively. Reddy defeated Dushner, 6-1, 6-1, while Watts beat Miller, 6-4, 6-3.

The Golden Gophers will travel to Tuscaloosa to face No. 31 Alabama on Wednesday, March 19. Minnesota will meet No. 28 Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon.
