The University of Minnesota women's tennis team fell to 0-2 on its spring break trip in Arizona after a 6-1 loss to No. 28 Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., today. The 66th-ranked Golden Gophers (5-6, 0-1 Big Ten) won only one singles match to fall to 2-5 against ranked opponents this season.

The Sun Devils opened the dual with a three-match sweep in doubles play. At No. 1, 25th- ranked Lauren Colalillo and Kady Pooler dispatched Minnesota's Nischela Reddy and Jane Anderson to complete the sweep after 8-1 and 8-0 wins at Nos. 2 and 3.

Arizona State clinched the team win with three quick wins at Nos. 2, 3, and 6 singles, with the Golden Gophers picking up their lone victory of the day at No. 4. Sophomore Lindsay Risebrough improved to 4-1 this spring with a rollercoaster 6-2, 2-6, (12-10) triumph over Wendy Pilecka. Following Risebrough's win, Arizona State wrapped up the convincing team win with Sabrina Capannolo's 6-3, 3-6, (10-3) victory over 80th-ranked Nischela Reddy at No. 1.

Minnesota opens the home portion of its Big Ten schedule on Sunday, March 27, against Ohio State at the Baseline Tennis Center.
