MinnesotThe University of Minnesota women's tennis team won the No. 1 doubles match but dropped a 7-0 decision at Penn State on Sunday. The Golden Gophers are 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the Big Ten.
Minnesota's No. 1 doubles team of sophomore Michaela Havelkova and freshman Valerie Vladea defeated Pilar Montgomery and Rebecca Ho, 8-6, but Penn State won the two other doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
Penn State then swept the six singles matches to earn the victory. At No. 6 singles, freshman Brandi Watts won the second set after losing the first, but she lost the tiebreaker 10-3.
