IMinnesota defeated Indiana, 5-2, at the Northwest Athletic Club in Bloomington for the team's second consecutive win over the Hoosiers and only the second time in history that Minnesota has defeated Indiana. Minnesota is now 6-3 on the season and 2-0 in the Big Ten.

The Golden Gophers won two of three doubles matches, earning the doubles point, then won four singles matches for the victory.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of junior Kim Simonsen and senior Jana Hrdinova defeated Kelly Blanch and Becky Wallihan, 8-6. The No. 3 team of junior Nora Sauska and freshman Jen Howard defeated Amanda Field and Ann Poosuthasee, 8-5.

Sauska easily won her match at No. 1 singles, defeating Blanch 6-3, 6-1. Simonsen won at No. 2, defeating Zahra Ahamed, 7-5, 6-2 to put the Gophers up 3-2. Hrdinova then sealed the win for the Gophers with a victory at No. 6 singles, defeating Pousuthasee 6-3, 6-3. Senior Sitinee Rangsithienchai added a win No. 3 singles, defeating Jessica Anderson, 6-0, 0-6, 6-3, to finish the match.

Minnesota will play Purdue Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Northwest Athletic Club in Bloomington.
