The 61st-ranked University of Minnesota women's tennis team wrapped up its weekend on the east coast with a 5-2 win at Boston University. The Golden Gophers (5-3) went 2-1 in doubles play and 4-2 in singles action to improve to 3-2 against ranked teams this season.

The Maroon and Gold opened the dual with two quick doubles win to take a 1-0 lead into the singles portion of the afternoon. At No. 1, Tijana Koprivica and Ashley Schellhas rolled to an 8-2 win over Elizabeth Corrao and Erin Katims to improve to 2-0 in the dual season. Minnesota clinched the doubles point at No. 2 with Karina Chiarelli and Lindsay Risebrough's 8-3 victory over Danielle Abraham and Katie Draganova.

The Golden Gophers clinched to the dual win in singles play with one straight-set victory and three three-set wins. At No. 1, Schellhas won her fifth consecutive match, cruising to a 6-1 6-1 triumph over Yana Sadovskaya. The Terriers threatened with 6-1, 6-0 wins at Nos. 4 and 5, but Minnesota prevailed in a trio of three-set matches at Nos. 2, 3 and 6.

Risebrough gave the Maroon and Gold the 3-2 lead at No. 3, upending Francine Whu, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-2. On her 20th birthday, Koprivica clinched the dual for Minnesota with her 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 win over Katims at No. 2. With the win, Koprivica improved to 3-4 in dual matches. Chiarelli rounded out the afternoon with a 3-6, 6-3, (10-6) victory over Corrao at No. 6.

"This was a tough road trip," Head Coach Tyler Thomson said. "We're happy to get a split and we look forward to starting the Big Ten season next weekend at Iowa."

The Golden Gophers continue their six-dual road trip next weekend with matches at Drake and Iowa on March 3 and 4.
