It’s the start of a long stretch away from home for the Minnesota women’s tennis team this weekend as the Gophers travel to Missouri for a non-conference match on Saturday.
Minnesota is on the road for its next six matches until finally returning to the Baseline Tennis Center on March 27. The Gophers are 5-3 overall and had a four-match winning streak snapped in a 5-2 loss to 36th-ranked Washington on Sunday.
The Gophers, who take on Missouri on Saturday at 2 p.m., beat the Tigers in a 4-3 decision last season that came down to the final match. Minnesota leads the all-time series over Missouri 8-6. The Tigers are 3-2 overall and also host Drake on Friday night.
Junior Tijana Koprivica takes a six-match winning streak into the weekend, picking up wins at four different singles positions. Freshman Niltooli Wilkins is 4-2 overall and won both of her matches last weekend, including a three-set comeback win over Marshall that clinched the Gophers’ 4-3 victory.
Wilkins and Koprivica have also teamed to post a 3-1 record at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Magdalena Wiecha has won three straight matches and brings an 8-7 record into the weekend.
