All 11 of Minnesota players earned either singles or doubles victories on Sunday as the Gophers swept a pair of matches from Miami (Ohio) and Carleton at the Baseline Tennis Center.

The Gophers beat Miami 5-2 in the morning and then rolled past Division III Carleton 7-0 later in the day for their third victory of the weekend to improve to 4-2 overall. Tijana Koprivica led Minnesota’s team effort with three victories for the day, including two singles wins.

Koprivica won her No. 4 singles match against Miami 6-3, 6-2 over Megan Martzolf and teamed with Niltooli Wilkins for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles. She also posted a 6-1, 6-0 No. 1 singles win over Kathryn Schmidt of Carleton.

Karina Chiarelli also won twice for the Gophers against Miami, rallying past No. 1 singles opponent Monica Gorny 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 and joining Alex Seaton for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Alessandra Ferrazzi also came back from a one-set deficit at No. 2 singles to edge Anastasia Dracheva 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (5). Magdalena Wiecha added the Gophers’ final victory with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Riekie Honiball at No. 6 singles.

Wiecha and Jackie Sperling opened the win over Carleton with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. The Gophers also got wins from Peta Forsyth and Elena Kazakova 8-1 at No. 2 doubles and from Liz Tusler and Jackie Claypool by an 8-4 count at No. 3 doubles.

Kazakova had the Gophers’ easiest singles win with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Hannah Goldberg at No. 4. Forsyth posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Frances Leung at No. 3 and Claypool had a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6 over Devin Daugherty.

Sperling collected a 6-2, 6-2 win over Erin Gudul at No. 2 singles and Tusler rallied for a hard-fought win at No. 5 to conclude the Gophers’ team shutout. She came back to beat Hannah Clemons 4-6, 7-6 (5) and 10-8 in a super-tiebreaker.

The Gophers have two home matches next weekend against ranked non-conference foes when they meet 46th-ranked Marshall on Friday at 6 p.m. and 37th-ranked Washington on Sunday at 11 a.m.
