matchesThe University of Minnesota Women's Tennis Team (3-1) defeated the University of Denver 5-2 this afternoon. The Golden Gophers won all three doubles matches and claimed four of the six singles matches.

After Minnesota claimed the doubles point with three wins, the Golden Gophers claimed singles victories at the No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles positions. Junior Valerie Vladea defeated Jenny Trettin at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Amy Thomas, Nischela Reddy and Brandi Watts also claimed singles wins for Minnesota.

The Golden Gophers open Big Ten play next week against Purdue and Illinois at the Baseline Tennis Center.
