GolMinnesota swept all three doubles matches and all six singles matches in defeating Western Michigan, 7-0, at the Northwest Athletic Club in Bloomington. Minnesota is now 3-1 on the season.

The Golden Gophers started the match by winning in doubles. The team of senior Nora Sauska and freshman Sandra Olsen won at the No. 1 position, 9-7. At No. 2, freshman Michaela Havelkova and senior Kim Simonsen defeated Cyra Malik and Melanie Remynse, 8-3. The No. 3 team of sophomore Jennifer Howard and freshman Amy Thomas improved to 4-0 on the season by defeating Kendra Becker and Diana Dimitrescu, 8-5.

Simonsen defeated Remynse at the No. 3 singles position, 6-1, 6-2, then Olsen defeated Malik at No. 2, 6-1, 6-2. Sauska closed out the victory for the Gophers by winning at No. 1, defeating Chinwah 6-2, 6-2. Other singles winners for the Gophers were Thomas at No. 4, junior Tammy Wang at No. 5 and Havelkova at No. 6.
