doubles,Minnesota earned the doubles point and won five of six singles matches in defeating Drake, 6-1, at the Northwest Athletic Club in Bloomington. The Gophers improve to 2-1 on the season.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of senior Nora Sauska and freshman Sandra Olsen defeated Cecily Dubusker and Rajasree Kuruvilla, 8-5. Minnesota also earned a doubles win at the No. 3 position, where freshman Amy Thomas and sophomore Jennifer Howard teamed to defeat Cindy Skogerboe and Jenny Saluri, 8-2.

Sauska won at No. 1 singles, defeating Dubusker in three sets, 7-6, 4-6, 6-2. Olsen defeated Sarah Bain at No. 2 in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Senior Kim Simonsen defeated Kuruvilla at No. 3, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Other singles winners were junior Tammy Wang at No. 5 and freshman Michaela Havelkova at No. 6.

Minnesota will host Western Michigan on Sunday at 8 a.m. at the Northwest Athletic Club.
