Minnesota women's tennis junior Tereza Brichacova's run at the 2013 USTA/ITA Central Region Championship singles main draw came to an end in the quarterfinal round in Norman, Okla. Brichacova won her first match of the day to advance to the tournament's quarterfinal round, but fell in her second match of the day.
Brichacova started the tournament with a thrilling three-set win over 15th-ranked and second-seeded Samantha Vickers of Tulsa in the first round and reached Sunday's play with a straight set over Brittany Brewster of Nebraska.
The Prague, Czech Republic native extended her stay in the tournament Sunday, reaching the quarterfinal round with a comeback win over Maria Belen Ludueña of Kansas, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. In the fourth round, Brichacova dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision to the eighth-seeded Whitney Ritchie of host Oklahoma.
The Gophers also had several players competing in singles consolation play Sunday.
Yuliana Umanets, Aria Lambert, and Julia Courter all earned victories in the tournament with no rounds. Umanets took down Dylan Windom of Kansas in a supertiebreaker and Aria Lambert dispatched Lisa Anderson of Nebraska in similar fashion, winning the tiebreaker 13-11. Courter defeated Karyn Guttormsen in straight sets.
Minnesota has completed play at the Region Championships and will return home as the tournament comes to a close Monday.
