Singles Brackets: Main Draw | Consolation Scores
After completing doubles play Friday, the Minnesota women’s tennis team picked up play at the 2013 USTA/ITA Central Region Championships Saturday in Norman, Okla. Four Gopher players competed in the main draw and four more started the day by playing consolation matches.
Brichacova eked out a three-set win over Tulsa’s Samantha Vickers to start the day, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. The Prague, Czech Republic native then advanced to Sunday’s action with a straight set win against Nebraska foe Brittany Brewster. She will play Maria Belen Ludueña of Kansas for a spot in the quarterfinal.
Pintusava swept Anita Lee of Southern Illinois, 6-1, 6-3, but later dropped a close match of Saana Saartienen of Tulsa. Julia Courter and Jessika Mozia, who each won two qualifying matches to reach the main draw, both fell in their openers.
Round of 16 and quarterfinal matches for the main singles draw will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Gophers Fall in B1G Tournament
Minnesota battled down to the wire but fell 4-1 to Wisconsin in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament this afternoon.

Minnesota made the Big Ten Tournament and will be the first match taking on Wisconsin Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Michigan State Tennis Facilities.
