The University of Minnesota women’s tennis team held their team banquet Sunday where they handed out team awards and celebrated the season.
Tina Kreinis has posted five singles match victories and seven doubles match wins this fall for the Gophers.
The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers will be traveling to Florida Gulf Coast University in Estero, Fla. on Thursday to compete in the FGCU Fall Tournament.
The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers finished strong after four days of competition at the Gopher Invitational at Baseline Tennis Center this weekend.
The third day of the Gopher Invite saw some hard fought matches for the maroon and gold at Baseline Tennis Center as they won two doubles draws.
Went 15-8 in singles play and 6-3 in doubles • did the majority of her singles playing time in the No. 2 slot, going 11-7 and also was 3-0 in the No. 1 slot • in doubles, went 4-3 in the No. 2 slot and 2-0 in the No. 3 position • won first two duel meet matches in spring season with victories over Northern Illinois and South Dakota State • defeated Ellie Burns of South Dakota 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 position • outlasted Keisha Clousing of DePaul 6-2, 0-6, 6-2 in a back and forth match • won first five doubles matches of spring season including a big 6-3 victory over the No. 9 Michigan pair of Lommer/Fahey • won first B1G doubles match against No. 9 Michigan 6-3 with partner Emme • was voted Co-Team MVP with Caroline Ryba by her teammates.
2016 FALL SEASON
Went 5-6 in singles play and 7-7 in doubles • picked up her first collegiate victory over Jieke Stroobant 6-1, 6-1 at the Gopher Invitational • won four doubles matches at the Gopher Invitational • won three matches at the FGCU Fall Tournament • picked up two singles victories and one doubles victory at the ITA Central Region Championships.
PRIOR TO COLLEGE
Graduated from Northview Heights Secondary • was a U16 Provincial singles finalist, doubles Champion in 2013 and won another doubles championship in U18 • played for Team Canada in 2012 and is 10-7 in ITF matches • has been ranked as high as No. 21 in U18 and was ranked top ten in her region • has finished top 12 at the U18 Outdoor Junior Nationals every year since 2012 • was the women’s doubles champions in the Intercounty Major League in 2015 • was a finalist in the European Tennis Association Tournament in 2012.
