Minnesota senior Jillian Tyler placed third overall and as the top collegian in the 100-yard breaststroke at the AT&T Short Course National Championships in Columbus, Ohio, on Friday. Tyler clocked a time of 58.78 seconds in the final, her second time this season going under the 59-second mark. She will compete in the 200 breast on Saturday.
Ashley Steenvoorden placed 10th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:46.63. She notched a slightly faster time of 4:46.09 in the prelims. Earlier in the meet, Steenvoorden competed in the 200 free, posting a time of 1:51.01 but did not advance to finals. She will compete in the 1,650 free on Saturday.
Also competing for the Gophers was Megan Braun. Braun swam prelim times of 23.85 in the 50 free and 55.89 in the 100 butterfly. She will close the meet on Saturday competing in the 200 fly.
