Gophers Ready to Compete at OSU Invite The Gopher women's swimming and diving team will compete at the OSU Invite this weekend.
MINNESOTA RETURNS TO COMPETITION The 12th-ranked University of Minnesota women’s swimming and diving team gets back into the pool after a two-week break to compete this weekend at the Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. The Golden Gophers have won the last two meets at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
THE FIELD Minnesota will face swimmers and divers from 14 different schools, including No. 24 Penn State, Ohio State and Pittsburgh. Ninth-ranked Indiana, No. 22 ranked Purdue and Iowa will all send its divers to the meet.
LAST YEAR AT THE OHIO STATE INVITATIONAL Minnesota took first place with 10 event victories. Junior Jillian Tyler won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke in NCAA qualifying times to lead the Gophers. Castina Wabeke and Ashley Steenvoorden also had two individual titles, while Megan Braun took the 100 butterfly.
ENTERING THE OHIO STATE INVITATIONAL Minnesota last competed at the USA Diving Minnesota Grand Prix two weeks ago, where they finished 12th. The Gophers enter the meet with two dual meet victories against Iowa and Wisconsin in October. This will be the last meet for the Gophers before they head on their training trip in Hawaii.
