For the second week in a row and fourth time this season, senior Maggie Keefer was named Diver of the Week recognized by the Big Ten Conference. The announcement which came on Tuesday, Nov. 12 followed the University of Minnesota women’s swimming and diving team victory over the University of North Dakota on Nov. 9. The 179-114 win proceeded as the fifth win of the season for the Gophers and secured their undefeated record for another week.
Keefer, a Stillwater native, aided the Gophers in their consecutive victory by sweeping all competition in the diving well. By winning both the three-meter and one-meter events, Keefer earned her third dual-meet sweep of the season in a row; she also had a two-event winning title against Wisconsin and Iowa. In the North Dakota dual she scored a 300.40 in the one-meter and a 342.85 in the three-meter. Both scores were NCAA Zone Diving Standard qualifiers.
Maggie Keefer now adds her 14th career Diver of the Week accolade from the Big Ten over the course of her diving career at Minnesota.
Minnesota is next set to compete in the USA Swimming Arena Grand Prix. The meet starts on Thursday, Nov. 14 and runs until Saturday, Nov. 16. Minnesota's own University Aquatic Center is hosting the event. For more information on the Grand Prix visit USASwimming.org.
