For the second-straight day, sophomore diver Jacqueline Schroeder won the platform event on the final day of the Minnesota Diving Invitational. Schroeder, who won the 1-meter yesterday, won the platform event with a score of 279.300. A sophomore from Edina, Minn.,Schroeder fell just .10 short of tying Holly Jakits 2006 school record of 279.40. Alex Barstad finished second with a score of 224.025. Maggie Thomas placed fifth with a score of 187.425, while Taylor Enerson placed seventh with a score of 142.200.
“Jacqueline had a great weekend, finishing first on 1-meter and platform and a second place finish on 3-meter on Friday," head diving coach Jason Baumann said. "She has been battling through some back injuries and is so mentally tough. I am really proud of her. Alex Barstad again had a nice finish today on platform. Maggie and Taylor did an outstanding job in their debut performances on platform. The platform event is as much mental as it is physical, not everyone competes on platform, but all of the divers here do. It is a great sense of pride and they step up to the challenge.“
The Gophers will compete at the Indiana Diving Invite next weekend.
