Eight Meet Records Broken as Gopher Women's Swimming Beats North Dakota

recordsThe Gopher women's swimming and diving team cruised past the University of North Dakota by a score of 199 to 89. The women won 15 of the 16 events swam today in addition to breaking eight meet records in the procees.

Meg an Moore won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 53.73 to set a new meet record, taking 1.32 seconds off the old time set in 2000.

Dan a Baum set a new meet record in the 1000-yard freestyle in a season-best time 10:20.27. Baum also recorded a victory in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.95.

Ker i Hehn won two events for the first time this season since the Iowa State meet. Hehn won the 100-yard breaststroke in a meet record time of 1:03.53 as well as the 200-yard individual medley in 2:09.64.

Also setting meet records were Kris tin Rygg in the 200-yard freestyle, Abb y Ruess in the 100-yard butterfly, and Reb ecca Cornthwaite in the 3-meter diving.

In diving, Minnesota took the top two spots on the 1-meter. Abb ie Bowden won the event with a meet record score of 279.38. Sha nnon Jackson took second with a score of 267.15.

The Gophers next event will be the Minnesota Invitational. The invite will be held November 22-24 from noon to 6p.m. on the 22nd and 23rd, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 24th at the University Aquatics Center.
