After a two-day sweep over the University of Wisconsin this past weekend Oct.18-19, the Big Ten Conference announced on Tuesday Oct. 22 that senior Maggie Keefer was named Diver of the Week. This is the second time this year that Keefer has been noticed by conference awards, it also marks the 12th time in her Minneota career that she has been named with the particular honor. Keefer was named Diver of the Week earlier in the season after the season-opening win against Arizona State.

The accolade comes to Keefer after she helped assist the Golden Gophers secure a 218-152 win over the Badgers. The border battle win was the second conference dual for the women’s team and third win overall as the year’s record remains 3-0 (2-0 B1G).

Keefer proved to be a strong performing during the competition as she took home victories in both diving events. With a score of 298.65, she placed first in the one-meter. She then went on to win the three-meter dive as she earned a score of 325.05. Both times in the diving well qualified her for NCAA Zone Diving standards.

The award for Keefer marks the third week in a row for Minnesota that they have been named with Diver of the Week mentions. Keefer held the honor on Oct. 8 while Sarah McCrady was named Diver of the Week on Oct. 15.

Earlier in the week, Keefer was also awarded the Patty Berg Legacy Student-Scholar award at the Golden Gopher Fund Annual Banquet.
