The University of Minnesota women’s swimming and diving team swept the Big Ten Conference Weekly Awards Tuesday, the league office announced. Tess Behrens was named Swimmer of the Week, Sarah McCrady was tabbed Diver of the Week and Lauren Votava earned Freshman of the Week honors.
Tess Behrens earned her first Swimmer of the Week honor this season and second of her career. The junior placed first in three events against Michigan last weekend, including the 100 back (55.58), 200 back (2:02.06) and as a member of the Gophers’ 200 medley relay (1:42.40) team. Behrens also finished second with the 400 free relay (3:27.93) team.
Sarah McCrady received her first-career Diver of the Week honor after winning both the 1-meter (319.43) and 3-meter (314.55) diving events against the Wolverines. Both scores were NCAA Zone Diving qualifying marks.
Lauren Votava earned Freshman of the Week honors after placing first in the 100 free (50.95) and as a member of the 400 free relay (3:27.93) team. Votava also finished second in the 50 free (23.60) and third in the 200 medley relay (1:44.19) in her Gopher debut.
On the men’s side, sophomore transfer Jordan Lesser earned his first Big Ten weekly honor, as he was named the Diver of the Week after winning 1-meter diving (333.60) and placing third in 3-meter (334.88) against Michigan. Both scores were NCAA Zone Diving qualifying marks.

Golden Gopher teams and coaches are scheduled to appear at the 2016 Minnesota State Fair Aug. 29-31.
