The University of Minnesota Aquatic Center has always been a top-notch facility that has hosted various Championships. This season, the facility will be even greater to the Gophers and it’s visitors after several renovations.
“It’s outstanding, this summer they have done so much work,” head swimming and diving coach Kelly Kremer stated. “They replaced the entire sky light system of the facility so literally once the sun comes out it is bright in the pool, you don’t even need lights on when it’s day time. We weren’t asking for it but now we know how lucky we are to have had that done.”
Not only did Minnesota receive the skylights, they also have a brand new training room that will be completed with ice baths, more than double the amount of training tables and simply “anything and everything that you would want in an athletic training room,” stated by women’s swimming coach Terry Nieszner.
The team rooms are also getting completely renovated with new carpet, new furniture and new decals where team members will feel comfortable going before and after practice.
“It is now is just a very quality space for our student athletes to study, to relax, and to just socialize,” Nieszner said about the team room.
Both the men’s and women’s locker rooms are also getting cosmetic changes done to them to make them feel more like home.
“We’re really happy and we’re really excited to be making so many changes,” Kremer said about all the renovations.
