Jennings Takes Gold in Pan Pac 10K

Former Minnesota All-American Christine Jennings took gold in the open water 10K at the Pan Pacific Championships in Long Beach, Calif. Jennings posted a time of 2 hours, 0 minutes, 33.83 seconds after pulling away in the final 400 meters of the race.

Fellow American Eva Fabian took second with a time of 2:00:35.76.

The Pan Pacific Championships is a competition between the U.S., Canada, Australia and Japan. Most of this year's events were held in Irvine, Calif., but the open water 10K was held at Long Beach Marine Stadium.

Jennings, 23, swam at Minnesota from 2005 to 2009. She swam at the NCAA Championships in each of her four years as a Gopher and earned All-America honors four times. Jennings was a five-time Big Ten Champion, four of those titles coming in relays.
