University of Minnesota swimmers had a strong showing at the third day of the 2007 ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships, held in Indianapolis. Yuen Kobayashi and Kait Strickland each earned school records in their respective events.
Kobayashi finished 11th in the 400-meter freestyle event when she set an Olympic Trial qualifying time of 4:14.36, a new school record. Teammate Christine Jennings also competed in the same event, placing 15th overall. Jennings touched the wall also in an Olympic Trials time of 4:16.96.
Kait Strickland added a school record in the 400-meter individual medley when she set an Olympic Trials qualifying time of 4:52.52 during the time trials.
The summer national championships will continue through Saturday.
