University of Minnesota head men's and women's swimming and diving coach Kelly Kremer announced Wednesday that Marina Spadoni of Foothill Ranch, CA has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim for the Gophers next season.
Spadoni, out of Mission Viejo High School, placed fourth at the CIF Southern Sectional Meet in the 100 backstroke. Swimming under Coach Bill Voigt of the Mission Viejo Nadadores, Spadoni qualified for the USA Swimming Winter Nationals in the 100 back, 200 back, and 100 free.
“Marina coming to Minnesota continues a long-standing relationship with Head Coach Bill Rose and the Mission Viejo Nadadores,” Kremer stated about Spadoni. “Marina is an outstanding underwater kicker. She is a very impressive swimmer that possesses all of the skill sets needed to make an impact for us right off the bat.”
Spadoni will join the Minnesota team who enjoyed a successful season, claiming the title at the Big Ten Championships and finishing 11th and the NCAA Championships.
