Several Gopher women's swimmers took the blocks last weekend at the Minnesota Twinvite III at University Aquatic Center. The long-course meet was a tuneup for the summer competition season, current Gophers Jillian Tyler, Ashley Steenvoorden and Kristin Steenvorden were in action.
Ashley Steenvoorden breezed to a nine-second win in the 1500-meter freestyle with a time of 17:05.74 while Kristen Steenvoorden took second place in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:23.68. Tyler posted an easy win in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:13.42. Former Gopher All-American Roxane Akradi took first place in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:04.59.
