University of Minnesota co-head swimming coaches Kelly Kremer and Terry Nieszner have announced that Kim Kazika from Prior Lake, Minn., has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Golden Gopher women's swimming and diving team next fall.

As a member of the Prior Lake High School team, Kazika was a multiple Minnesota State High School championship finalist in the 100 breaststroke event and was the the state championship runner-up in 2005. Nationally, Kazika was also a 2005 All-American in the 100 breaststroke. Along with competing at the high school level, Kazika also swims for Blackline Aquatics with coach Jeff Lee.

We're really excited to add Kim to our program," co-head coach Kelly Kremer said. "One of our top priorities each year is to keep our state’s best student athletes at home, and we feel we accomplished that. Kim is a very sound breaststroke specialist, and she will be asked to step in and fill the void left by our graduating class that included three breaststrokers."
