Former University of Minnesota women's swimmer Katie Wind competed at the 2007 USA Swimming Spring Championships and USA Team Trials, March 27-31 in East Meadow, N.Y. Wind finished eighth overall in the 200-meter backstroke. Wind clocked a time fo 2:21.04, which was under the short-course Nationals time of 2:22.29. She improved five spots from where USA Swimming placed her on the psych sheet at 13th overall in the event.
During her time here, Wind was a NCAA qualifier at the 2006 NCAA Championships and a four-year letterwinner from 2003-06. She set the school record in the 200-yard back witha time of 1:58.24 at the 2006 Big Ten Championships. She also held a second-best time of 55.23 in the 100 back after last season. Jenny Shaughnessy broke the school record in the 200 back this year at the NCAA championship with a time of 1:58.07. Roxane Akradi also broke the school record in the 100 back with a time of 53.89.
