Preliminaries began this Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the University Aquatic Center.
500 Free Prelims
Distance freestyle, a strength of the Gophers, started day two of the 2014 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Gopher sophomore Samantha Harding will be seeded first going into `A' final with a time of 4:38.05. She was followed this morning by teammate Kiera Janzen who swam a 4:39.77. Indiana's Vrooman holds the B1G Record (4:35.41) and will go into the `A' final tonight seeded fourth.
200 IM Prelims
Freshman Breanne Siwicki qualified for the 200 IM `B' final with a time of 1:59.59.
50 Free Prelims
Becca Weiland had a 22.21 in the 50-yard freestyle prelim, taking second. She will be joined in the `A' final with senior Erin Caflisch (22.53) who is in fifth, and Blake Zeiger (22.58) who is seeded sixth.
In the `B' final, senior Tess Behrens will race for points after swimming a 22.79 this morning.
Current scores remain from last night's final heats with Minnesota (72) just behind Indiana (74).

Golden Gopher teams and coaches are scheduled to appear at the 2016 Minnesota State Fair Aug. 29-31.
