MINNESOTA FINISHES SIXTH AT BIG TEN WOMEN'S S & D CHAMPIONSHIPS

titleThe Minnesota women's swimming and diving team finished sixth at the 2001 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, completed Saturday in Bloomington, Ind. Michigan won its 13th Big Ten title in school history with 582 points, followed by Penn State (557), Indiana (460.5), Northwestern (382), Wisconsin (359) and Minnesota (340.5).

Individually, first-year swimmer Juleen Rodakowski had Minnesota's best finish on Saturday, taking third in 200 butterfly with a time of 2:00.62. Sophomore Dana Baum finished sixth in the 1650 free with a time of 16:33.29, and senior Elizabeth Pierce won the consolation final in the 200 breaststroke with a mark of 2:17.26.

The Gophers will host a last-chance meet Saturday at the University Aquatic Center.
