The Big Ten Conference announced it’s weekly awards Tuesday. The Gophers took home two out of the three awards after a strong performance at the Minnesota Challenge this past weekend. Maggie Keefer received Diver of the Week while Marina Spadoni notched Freshman of the Week.
Keefer earned first and second-place finishes at the Minnesota Challenge to give the junior her 10th weekly award of her career and fifth of the season. Keefer finished first in 3-meter diving with a career-best score of 380.50 and second in platform with a 273.85. Both scores were NCAA Zone Diving qualifying marks.
Spadoni had an outstanding weekend at the Minnesota Challenge, posting five first-place finishes and two second-place efforts. The freshman finished first in the 100 free (50.87), 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay. Spadoni finished runner-up in the 50 free with a time of 23.49 and in the 100 back in 56.97, both personal best times. This is Spadoni’s first weekly award of her career.
