The Big Ten Conference announced it’s weekly awards Tuesday, following a Minnesota victory over Wisconsin, Purdue and Illinois at the Quad Duals last weekend. University of Minnesota diver Jessica Ramberg was named the Big Ten Diver of the Week and Kierra Smith notched the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Ramberg had a strong performance at the Quad Duals last weekend, receiving first-place honors in 3-meter diving with a score of 292.35, as well as second-place on the 1-meter board (288.25). This is the freshman’s first Big Ten Weekly Award of her career.
Kierra Smith earned her seventh Big Ten Honor since becoming a Gopher. Smith notched two first-place finishes at the Quad Duals, one in the 200 breast (2:14.49) and the other in the 400 IM (4:22.51). She also earned a fifth-place finish with the 200 medley relay (1:45.59) and sixth-place in the 200 IM (2:05.38).
This marks the 10th week that the Gophers have received Big Ten honors.

Seniors Kierra Smith and Jakub Maly head to Windsor, Ontario to compete for their respective countries.
