The Minnesota women’s swimming and diving team signed three divers to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. Olivia Evanson of Maple Grove, Minn., Bailee Meyer of Woodbury, Minn., and Katy Etterman of East Gull Lake, Minn., signed NLIs and will join the Golden Gopher program in the 2011-12 season.

Evanson is a senior at Maple Grove High School. She is a two-time sectional champion and finished fifth in the 2010 Minnesota Class 2A Championships.

“Olivia has a great talent for diving, something she’s been doing since she was 4 years old,” said Golden Gopher diving coach Wenbo Chen. “She’s competitive and comes in with a gymnastics background.”

Meyer is a senior at East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minn. Meyer comes to the Gophers with experience on all three diving events and has competed in USA Diving Regional and Zone Championships the last three years.

“Bailee is another former gymnast turned diver,” said Chen. “She’s been training year-round and continues to improve.”

Etterman is a senior at Brainerd High School. She was a finalist at the Minnesota Class 2A Championships in each of the last two years. In 2010, Meyer was the sectional runner-up to her future teammate Evanson.

“Katy is a talented diver who is going to bring great energy to our team,” said Chen.
