Hey everyone!
The last days of our trip to Hawaii were packed with great training, fun experiences, and time spent enjoying the sun and warm weather. On Saturdayafternoon, we had our first opportunity to race in 2014 at a dual meet against the University of Hawaii. Despite the rain and clouds that were present for most of the afternoon, we enjoyed racing in a different environment and put together tough swims to lead to victories for both our women and men.
After the meet, the women had a team dinner at the Hula Grill, a restaurant right on the beach in Waikiki. The views of the ocean and the sunset were incredible, and the food was delicious, as well. 
Sunday brought a day off for the entire team, and everyone made the trip to North Shore, where we relaxed, ate at various local restaurants, such as Kono's, a famous breakfast spot, and VJ's, a great food truck, and saw some pretty sweet waves. Most groups also stopped at the Dole Plantation, which is on the way to North Shore, and people got their fill of fresh pineapple and Dole whip (pineapple ice cream). 
On Monday morning, all of the groups went back to training hard in the pool and in the weight room. Continuing with what seems to be some sort of trend, the female sprinters did lots of kicking, and also completed a tough quality set of 18 x 75s with zoomers and some good underwater and cord work. The male sprint group continued to have great workouts in the pool and weight room. Purdy's middle distance/stroke group did several long aerobic sets that also incorporated some kicking, a lactate set involving 200s and 100s fast, as well as the annual set of Super Stand Ups. Kelly's group did some challenging distance workouts, including a 5000 for time and a set of 200s best average, several quality stroke sets, and a stand up set of broken 200s. As is tradition, before leaving the islandon Thursday night, all groups completed Goal 50s. The male sprinters had one of the best set of Goal 50s for the group in recent history, with only two athletes missing their goal time on one 50 each.
While we weren't training the last week, people walked around and shopped in Waikiki, hit the beach to perfect their tans, and saw amazing views of Oahu after climbing Koko Head. We had a fantastic trip in and out of the pool, and it was not easy to leave Hawaii, but everyone is really looking forward to all of the fast swimming and fun that is to come throughout the rest of the season!
