MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota’s women’s and men’s swimming & diving programs got their first taste of competition in the pool this season, as more than 40 alumni returned to campus to celebrate the Homecoming weekend and to participate in the Alumni Meet at the Aquatics Center.
The evening was highlighted by the induction of four former swimming & diving standouts into the Minnesota Aquatics Hall of Fame. Those inducted were Jeff Hackler (Class of 2003), Laurie Nelson Davis (Class of 1994), Tanya Schuh Modelli (Class of 1997) and Bernie Zeruhn (Class of 1996).
The meet was fun, as the teams competed in several mixed relays that paired both women and men and current Golden Gophers with alums. It’s the final tune-up outside of practice for Minnesota before head coach Kelly Kremer’s teams open their regular seasons at home against Arizona State next Saturday, Oct. 5. That meet begins at 12:00 p.m. CT.
