2016-17 Sophomore Season: Finished third place in the 400-yard IM with a 4:31.54 at the Jean Freeman Invitational • earned second place in the 400-yard IM at the Minnesota Challenge (4:37.61) • finished fifth place in the 200-yard IM at the Jean Freeman Invitational (2:08.33) • notched fifth place in the 200-yard breast at the Jean Freeman Invitational (2:24.34).  

2015-16 Freshman Season:
First-year letterwinner • At the 2016 Big Ten Championships, Johnston recorded career best times to finish 40th in the 400 IM, 53rd in the 200 breast and 72nd in the 200 IM • Tallied five top-five marks during the regular season • Made her collegiate debut at Florida State.
