Minnesota men’s and women’s swimming and diving team used solid showings in their home pool to pick up a pair of Big Ten conference wins
The season opener came down to one-one hundredth of a second for the No. 17 Minnesota women's swimming and diving team who edged their way past No. 23 Florida State, 153.5-146.5. The No. 21 Golden Gopher men's swim and diving team fell short of an upset over No. 20. Florida State falling 179-121.
The 2017-18 women's swimming and diving team have selected their captains for this season. The women's team will be led by Chantal Nack, Danielle Nack, and returning captain Rae Bullinger.
Looking to pick up right where they left off, the Gophers will strive to continue their success in the water throughout the 2017-18 campaign.
The Big Ten Conference has recognized 69 student-athletes from the University of Minnesota as Academic All-Big Ten honorees.

2015-16 Sophomore Season: Academic All-Big Ten • At the 2016 NCAA Championships, Nack finished 17th in the 200 free relay, 20th in the 200 medley relay, 23rd in the 400 medley relay, 25th in the 400 free relay, 44th in the 100 fly and 47th in the 200 fly • Earned silver in both the 200 fly and 200 medley relay, bronze in the 100 fly, 4th in the 400 free relay, 5th in the 200 free relay, 5th in the 400 medley relay and 9th in the 50 free at the 2016 Big Ten Championships • Tallied 15 first-place finishes and 18 top-five marks during the regular season • Advanced to finals in the 100-meter fly, 200 fly and 50 free at the 2015 Arena Pro Swim Series at Minneapolis • Swept the women’s butterfly events in five meets.
2014-15 Freshman Season: First-year Letterwinner • At the 2015 NCAA Championships, Nack placed 44th in the 200 fly, 47th in the 100 fly, 22nd in the 200 free relay and 26th in the 200 medley relay (3/19-3/21) • 2015 Second Team All-Big Ten • During her first Big Ten Championships, Nack took home the silver medal in the 200 fly, placed 7th in the 100 fly, 26th in the 50 free, 4th in the 200 medley relay, 3rd in the 200 free relay and 4th in the 400 medley relay (2/18-2/21) • Finished 1st in the 100 back at the 2015 Minnesota Challenge (2/7) • Took 2nd in both the 100 fly and 200 fly against Northwestern and Purdue in the Big Ten Triple Dual (1/30-1/31) • Placed 6th in the 100 free, 4th in the 100 fly and 3rd in the 200 fly at N.C. State (1/23-1/24) • Finished 1st in the 200 fly at Hawaii (1/7) • At the 2014 Jean K. Freeman Invite, Nack took 3rd in the 50 free, 10th in the 100 back and 4th in both the 100 fly and 200 IM (12/5-12/6) • During the 2014 Arena Grand Prix at Minneapolis, Nack finished 3rd in the 100 fly, 8th in the 200 fly, 15th in the 50 free and 20th in the 100 free (11/20-11/22) • Took 1st in the 200 fly and 3rd in the 100 fly at Florida (11/8) • Finished 1st in the 100 fly and 4th in both the 50 free and 100 free against Iowa (10/31) • Against North Dakota, Nack placed 1st in both the 50 free and 200 free, and also finished 2nd 100 free (10/24) • Finished 1st in the 200 fly against Wisconsin (10/17) • Made her collegiate debut at Arizona State where she finished 1st in the 100 fly and 200 fly (10/4).

Minnesota swimming and diving has officially signed seven new swimmers and divers to National Letters of Intent. The class will bring in four women, one men’s member and two divers.
