The University of Minnesota softball team invites its alumni back to attend the 2012 End of the Year Banquet on Friday, September 7 along with participating in the Alumni Game on Saturday, September 8 at 9:30 a.m.
The banquet is slated for the night of Friday, September 7 to honor the 2012 softball team, which went 31-22. The night's activities will encompass a dinner and a short program to commemorate the 2011 season.
For the Gophers, the 2012 season had been crowned a rebuilding year, but the team thought otherwise and had lofty goals of surging to the top of the Big Ten Conference and qualifying for a NCAA Regional. With having a youthful squad, Minnesota would have a rollercoaster season and fall short of their expectations, but the Golden Gophers still managed to post their second-straight 30-win season, which hasn't happened since 2003 and 2004. Alumni are excouraged to stick around until Saturday morning where an Alumni Game will be held at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium at 9:30 a.m.
