After the Golden Gopher Softball team recorded its best season in program history, a year that saw the team capture its second Big Ten Tournament title and reach the NCAA super regional round for the first time, GopherSports.com is counting down the top plays from the 2014 season.
Like play No. 5, the No. 4 in our countdown comes from the Big Ten Tournament Championship game. With the game knotted at two in the top of the seventh inning, Michigan's Lyndsay Doyle hit a two out double to put the go-ahead run in scoring position. The next Wolverine batter, Nicole Sappingfield, roped a line drive that looked as if it would give Michigan the late advantage, but junior Tyler Walker had other plans. The Gophers' shortstop made a diving catch that ended the inning and prevented the speedy Doyle from scoring. Walker's highlight-reel snag allowed Minnesota to walk off with its first Big Ten Tournament title since 1999 in the bottom of the seventh.
