After the Golden Gopher Softball team recorded its best season in program history, a year that saw the team capture its second Big Ten Tournament title and reach the NCAA super regional round for the first time, GopherSports.com is counting down the top plays from the 2014 season.
Top Play No. 6 is provided by sophomore Nikki Anderson, who shut down No. 21/22 Auburn in the NCAA Regional Championship at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium. With Minnesota trailing 6-3 in the fourth inning, Anderson entered the game and blanked the Tigers for 3.2 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four, setting the stage for an 8-6 come-from-behind win that sent the Gophers to their first-ever super regional. Anderson earned her third win of the season and became the third different Gopher pitcher to earn a victory in the Minneapolis Regional.
