MINNEAPOLIS – The No. 15 Minnesota softball team’s home-opening series against Big Ten foe Illinois has officially been moved to South Field at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. Originally scheduled as a Friday-Saturday-Sunday series at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium, the Gophers will now begin their series against the Fighting Illini at 3 p.m. Friday at UST and will cap the weekend with a doubleheader Saturday slated to begin at 11 a.m. There will not be a game Sunday.
Admission to the events will be free to the public. Parking will be free in the Anderson Parking Facility and Lots M and 0. The field and parking lots/ramp is on the corner of Grand Ave. and S. Cretin Ave.
For fans planning to attend the games, note that seating will be very limited at the field and that St. Thomas will be holding other events this weekend that may cause parking and traffic to be heavier than usual. Also of note, there will not be any concessions at the games. Fans may want to be prepared with their own food and beverages, as well as seats (e.g. lawn chairs).
