MINNEAPOLIS – Following an impressive 7-for-14 weekend at the SportCo Kick Off Classic senior Dani Wagner has been named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
The veteran outfielder posted a .500 batting average on top of a 1.000 slugging percentage and .611 on-base percentage. Wagner drove in a team-best eight runs through the five game stretch, six of which came courtesy of the long ball. Wagner extends her hitting streak to eight games and crossed the plate four times over the weekend.
Against North Dakota State, Wagner extended the Gophers lead to 4-0 with a three-run homer in the top of the fifth. In the final game of the weekend, Wagner aided the Gophers in their six-run seventh inning with a three-run bomb to give Minnesota a 7-3 victory.
Minnesota hits the road this weekend to take part in B1G/ACC Challenge in Tallahassee, Fla. The Gophers square off against Florida State Friday, Feb 16 at 5:30 p.m. CT. On Saturday, Feb. 17 the Maroon and Gold take on Notre Dame at 11:30 a.m. CT prior to their second meeting with the Seminoles. They wrap up the weekend Sunday, Feb. 18 against the Fightin’ Irish at 9 a.m. CT.
