MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota softball team opens its schedule at next weekend’s Sportco Kick-Off Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., and tournament organizers have announced some minor schedule changes to the event in order to accommodate teams’ travel schedules.
Minnesota had been scheduled to play DePaul and Louisville on Saturday, Feb. 9, and Texas Tech and host UNLV on Sunday, Feb. 10. The Gophers will still face those four teams, but will now play DePaul and Texas Tech on Saturday, and Louisville and UNLV on Sunday. The times of the games also have been slightly altered.
The Golden Gophers will open their 2013 season against DePaul at 1:15 p.m. CT (11:15 a.m. local) on Saturday, followed by a 5:45 p.m. CT game versus Texas Tech. On Sunday, Minnesota will face No. 18/18 Louisville at 12:15 p.m. CT, with a 2:30 p.m. CT game against UNLV. Minnesota is scheduled to be designated as the home team in its games against Texas Tech and Louisville.
Groenewegen Garners Academic All-America Honor
Sara Groenewegen was named to the 2017 Academic All-America team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Lindaman Continues Making History
Kendyl Lindaman has been named a 2017 Schutt Sports / NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year top-3 finalist.
Historic Season Comes To An End
The University of Minnesota Gophers topped La Tech 5-2 in extra innings this afternoon before losing 1-0 to Alabama to end their historic season.
