MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. -- Sophomore shortstop Tyler Walker's team-leading 11th home run of the season gave Minnesota a 1-0 walk-off victory against Indiana in eight innings on Saturday, as the Gophers swept a doubleheader from the Hoosiers.
Walker, who had just missed hitting a home run in her previous at bat to lead off the sixth inning, didn't leave any doubt about her eighth-inning blast over the wall in right center. She rounded the bases to her teammates awaiting her arrival at the plate, as Minnesota improved to 32-16 overall and 13-6 in the Big Ten.
The home run helped junior right-hander Sara Moulton earn the win after pitching eight shutout innings. Moulton (28-9) scattered five hits and struck out seven with just one walk. She also pitched a shutout with seven strikeouts during the 8-0 win earlier in the afternoon.
Minnesota and Indiana (19-33, 3-18) wrap up the three-game series, and the regular season, with Senior Day on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
