Moulton and Anderson Combine to No-Hit Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - Sara Moulton and Nikki Anderson combined for Minnesota's third no-hitter this season, as Minnesota defeated Florida A&M, 10-0, in five innings on Wednesday afternoon.

The Gophers (17-10) scored nine runs against the Rattlers (7-25) in the top of the first inning, with eight of the runs scoring after there were two outs. Sophomore third baseman Kaitlyn Richardson had an RBI single and junior center fielder Bree Blanchette added a two-run double, and the Gophers also scored three runs on walks issued with the bases loaded.

In the circle, Moulton improved to 15-6 by working the first three innings, striking out three and walking one. Anderson pitched the final two frames of the five-inning no-hitter, with one strikeout and one walk.

Blanchette went 2-for-4 at the plate, while sophomore Erica Meyer was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in and a run scored, and sophomore Tyler Walker was 1-for-2 and scored two runs.Sophomore Erika Smyth also scored a couple runs for the Gophers.

Minnesota will fly to Iowa on Thursday, as it opens Big Ten play against the Hawkeyes (19-8) this weekend. The first game of the three-game series in Iowa City is set for Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. CT. The teams will then play single games on both Saturday and Sunday, with first pitch slated for 2:00 p.m. CT each day.
